Hello, my name is Amber. I'm 25 but have been out since I was 18. I started questioning myself around the age of 15 but suppressed the feelings and confusion until I graduated high school. I came out to a few close friends and became involved with my very first girlfriend, who lived three hours away. I began to wonder how I would tell my family, but they began to suspect something when I drove to see my "friend" just about every weekend and sometimes stayed for a week. So, ultimately, I didn't have to come out to them.. they sat me down one day and ASKED me if I was a lesbian. I was honest, of course. They didn't like the fact, but didn't disown me or anything. Needless to say, the tension was more than a bit unbearable and I moved out a couple months after that.
