This collection of 54 poems by Judith K. Parker was written in honor of those with breast cancer, those who have survived and those who haven't. Some of the proceeds from this publication have been donated to Breast Cancer Research.
Having read "Four From Wishes", also written by Judith K. Parker, I was surprised by the forcefulness, her sense of conflict in many of these poems. She often refers to life events in terms of fights or battles that may have been created by her enjoyment of watching "Zena Warrior".
Where once stood a thriving city,
Just some temple pillars stand,
And beneath these stones, say scholars,
Sleeps a great bard of the land.
Her stories are told as legends,
And her bloodlines still are there:
There's born to each generation
A brave girl with red-gold hair.

"Dance" and "Fear of Love" express the struggles many women experience in finding an healthy love when they have been injured either in childhood or a past love. The poems "Identify," "Harbor," and "Sense Memory" identify some of the mysteries of falling in love and letting go of that love if needed. Sometimes love isn't enough to result in a forever love.
"Two Friends" is a beautifully simple poem about the mutual trust and respect between two friends and left me wanting to make them face one another and communicate their thoughts to one another.
The back cover of this book claims "poems that will touch your soul". If you read this collection, you will take something of Judith's courage and truth away with you.
